25th Anniversary Yeti 575 PDF Print E-mail
Manufacturers News
Thursday, 19 August 2010 05:42

more photos here...

Yeti spilled the beans about their upcoming 25th anniversary edition 575 frame. The new frame features some sweet upgrades to the 575 frame set for 2011 and brings back the look of Yeti from 1985!

Yeti says the paint scheme will mimic a scheme used on the original Yeti ARC hardtail in 1985. The bike was a bike with 2 very distinct colors, teal and yellow. The paint is going to be a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own a bike bringing back the looks of a ride when Paula Abdul ruled the charts.

I just finished updating some major sections of our web site with new versions of software. Here's some highlights and new features you'll find.

1) Fixed Facebook Avatar import. Now, if you log in via Facebook, you're Avatar will be updated.
2) Your status at Souhegan Cycleworks will update your Facebook status (and vise-versa).
3) Added Event's to community. Now you can publish your own events (rides, lectures, community interests, etc...)
4) You can now edit wall posts after initial posting (yeah!)
5) Improved the activity stream
6) You can now add a video to your profile (this should be interesting...)
7) Ability to tag friends in photos

If you have any ideas, let me know. I can't promise that it will get implemented but I will pass it on to the appropriate developer for consideration.

ENJOY!

Apple Patents Smart Bike PDF Print E-mail
Manufacturers News
Tuesday, 10 August 2010 05:41
Wired magazine is reporting that Apple Computer has filed a patent for a "Smart Bike". No, this doesn't appear to be an April Fool's joke that came out a few months too late either. The patent appears to be a bicycle that includes built in sensors throughout the frame and, of course, an iphone or ipad like screen (or built into the stem) computer.

Head on over to Wired Magazine to read what they've been able to figure out so far.

And check out this article for some more detail on the patent as filed.

Hi Cyclists,

Preston Tyree, Education Director of the League of American Bicyclists, informed me he would be looking at the enrollment for this Seminar on August 10. If we weren't approaching 10 people enrolled he would be canceling this Seminar three weeks before the start date of 9-9-10.

Please get in touch with as many cyclists as you can reach and help me spread the word. Encourage experienced cyclists to get on board now as this will be the last Seminar scheduled in northern New England for some time now.

From Granite Sate Wheelman...

Have you registered as yet for our 37th annual Granite State Wheelmen's "Tri-State Seacoast Century Weekend"?  If not, what are you waiting for?

The "Early Bird" rate of $35.00 for the whole weekend and all services expires this Saturday, July 31.  From August 1 to August 31, the registration rate will be $45.00 plus Active.com's service fee.  Why pay more?

Also, compared to last year, we are running 17% higher in the number of registrations as of this date.  The event headcount cut-off is 1,600 and we maxed-out before August 31 for the past two years.  Don't be locked-out or pay more!  Act before Sunday, August 1, to reserve your slot.  And remember, this is a ride, not a race.  Rules of the road are to be followed; we share the road with motorists so don't ride two or more abreast when cars approach from the rear.  That is the NH law -- and it will be enforced.

For more info and to register on-line, please visit our GSW web site:

Happy and safe cycling to all, and we hope to see you on September 25-26 for our Tri-State Seacoast Century!

Cycle Clothing Not Just for Cycling PDF Print E-mail

Monday, 12 July 2010 00:00

This time of year, with the temperatures at their summertime peak, I personally turn to a familiar drawer looking for the clothing I usually use while on my 2-wheeled companion. Yup, there's nothing better on a hot summer day than wearing a light-weight, breathable cycling jersey to keep you cool and dry.
