    Over the past two weeks in American cycling 2009 racing licenses went on sale, USA Cycling added valuable partners, four Americans competed in the second 2008-2009 UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Australia, a pair of U.S. youngsters continued success on the track in Europe, Katie Compton pulled in a victory in the fourth UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup, the USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Calendar rolled on, officials continued their education in Colorado Springs, cyclo-cross racers began gearing up for the national championships and much more....

  • Club of the Year application deadline extended to Dec. 12

    The Club of the Year application deadline has been extended to December 12, 2008. Applications must be postmarked no later than December 12, 2008. USA Cycling's andquot;Club of the Yearandquot; Awards are designed to recognize USA Cycling clubs that have made exceptional efforts to develop programs and promote all aspects of competitive cycling. Overall Club of the Year awards will be given in three different divisions along with several special awards.

  • New mountain bike category system now in effect for 2009 licenses

    Last September, USA Cycling announced the development and implementation of a new mountain bike category system that took effect for the 2009 racing season. Now that 2009 licenses are on sale beginning Dec. 1, all mountain bike members are reminded of the new category system and that currently licensed Semi-Pros will have the option of receiving an automatic upgrade to Pro status for the 2009 season or registering as a Category 1 rider.   • USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Calendar Standings: Dec. 1

    The 32nd race on the USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Calendar, the Bay State Cyclo-cross, saw Jamey Driscoll earn the elite men's title in the UCI category-two race, while Maureen Bruno-Roy won the elite women's contest. Todd and Troy Wells combined to win both pro men's races at the Carousel Volkswagen Jingle Cross Rock I and II over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in Iowa City, Iowa. Devon Haskell earned the women's pro win on Saturday while Amanda Miller brought home the title in Sunday's race.

  • 2009 licenses now on sale!

    After another year of remarkable growth for American cycling and a slew of international successes by U.S. athletes, all members are reminded that 2009 racing licenses go on sale Monday, Dec. 1. As you renew your membership, you'll notice that the fee structure for 2009 is mostly unchanged and the price of an annual license is still the same as it was five years ago! However, a significant increase in insurance claims and premiums has forced a $1.00 increase in the insurance surcharge. Also, mountain bike members are reminded of the new category structure for 2009.

  • USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Calendar Standings: Nov. 24

    A pair of category-one and a pair of category-two UCI events marked the 28th-31st races on the USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Calendar, Nov. 22-23. The Whitmore's Landscape Super Cross Cup I on Saturday saw Ryan Trebon earn the men's pro victory in the first of the pair of category-one races, while Todd Wells took the victory in Sunday's Cross Cup II race. Georgia Gould earned wins in both of the elite women's events held in South Hampton, N.Y. Jeremiah Bishop and Melanie Swartz won both pro events at the North Carolina Grand Prix. Three more category-two races will take place...

  • Halfway through Collegiate season overall team race remains tight

    With two of four USA Cycling Collegiate Cycling National Championships complete, both the Division I and II overall team standings are topped by a pair of ties. Fort Lewis College and Lees-McRae College are deadlocked atop the Division I standings with 37 total points, while the Colorado School of Mines and Colorado College lead the DII standings with 29 points apiece. The USA Cycling Collegiate Cyclo-cross National Championships will be held as a part of the overall USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships on Sunday, Dec. 14 at Tiffany Springs Park in Kansas City.

  • Americans conclude second round of Track World Cup in Melbourne

    The second round of the 2008-09 UCI Track World Cup Classics concluded Down Under on Saturday with one American in action. Cari Higgins finished 13th in the women's keirin to conclude the efforts of the four U.S. riders representing their respective track trade teams over the weekend. Americans leave Australia with no medals, Becky Quinn's fourth-place finish in the points race being the best U.S. finish. The five-race series continues next month in South America as Cali, Colombia hosts round three Dec. 11-13.

  • Quinn just misses points race podium at Melbourne World Cup

    The second round of the 2008-09 UCI Track World Cup Classics continued in Australia on Friday with Becky Quinn just missing a trip to the podium with a fourth-place-finish in the womenandrsquo;s 20-kilometer points race. Shelly Olds finished 13th, while Theresa Cliff-Ryan was unable to make the eveningandrsquo;s final round. The second round of the UCI Track World Cup Classics will continue November 22 in Melbourne with Cari Higgins expected to contest the Keirin.

  • UCI Track World Cup season continues in Melbourne

    The second round of the 2008-09 UCI Track World Cup Classics kicked off in Australia on Thursday as four Americans took to the track on the first of the three-day affair. Becky Quinn posted the top U.S. finish of the day with a sixth-place result in the womenandrsquo;s 10-kilometer scratch race. Shelly Olds earned the 11th spot and Theresa Cliff-Ryan was 20th. Cari Higgins contested the womenandrsquo;s sprint, but was unable to move out of the qualifying round.
