Schwable Ultremo Tires

I'd been running Michelin tires for years on my road bike. Tires are one of those things that are hard to change once you find something that works for you. But I was tempted by a pitch from a rep and I said, what the heck, I may as well give them a try.

Well, I'm in my 2nd season on my Ultremo's and I L. O. V. E. -- LOVE them!!!!! Of course, looks go a long way and they just look awesome. Lot's of rubber, minimal marketing and where there is print it is done in a classy way.

But how about the technical side. Well, again they rock! First, we need to talk about the puncture resistance built into these tires.

The Ultremo has a layer of material called Vectran developed by NASA that is lighter, stronger and MORE FLEXIBLE than Kevlar. This is the same material used by the Mars Rovers airbags! And even better, the fabric is made in New Ipswich. The material is a light weight, flexible and a puncture resistant fabric like we've never seen before.

Tire pressure is key as well and the Ultremo does not let you down here as they can easily handle 120psi. The tread wear for me has been awesome as I still have not rotated my tires after 1500 miles and am just now thinking I need to rotate my tires.

And of course there is the weight. The box says they weigh in at 195g making them the lightest tires we sell. But I was curious if they were "stretching the truth" on the weight so I put my tires on a scale - 185g and 189g! HOLY COW! These babies are light.

These tires feel awesome on the road and corner like nothing I've felt. All in all, I am extremely happy with my choice to switch to these tires and have enjoyed every mile on them!
